Guys such as myself start out, somewhere in youth or childhood, and still are at heart, really quite empathic and aesthetic, passionate and caring, grounded and energized – but then social pressures malform us, and we become partial and resentful, fumbly and unsure of ourselves
Though in my case, even earlier on I was robbed of – or more constructively, happened to fail to develop – a basic trust that things will be ok, for me and my family and in the wider worlds

All human existence is fundamentally resistance
Like electrical resistance – moderating or tamping down the flow of energy to make it usable, fecund and fruitful in the world
Punctuation embodies and expresses the central emotional and imaginative dynamics of particular ways of being human – it shapes and makes real our soul, our soulfulness, each individual specific (as always) to a particular place, time, culture, social and ecological order
As humans, we don’t really need to establish a firm foundation upon which to live – we can live as we are, entangled and living with – and occasionally, in certain senses, rising up from – our actual, original existence
I never did want to do much, and now I want to do even less

Bravery is a fundamental, existential emergence
The ability to risk, and then to entertain failure, is a new way of being, and an attractive and compelling one Especially when grounded in and in creative interaction with the deeper drives for security and relationship
It has to be for being alive. It’s good that way.
